In pain right now? Call first, read later.
Dental emergencies almost always get worse without treatment. Call our office immediately and we will talk you through the first steps.
Dental emergencies are quite frightening and often painful.
Prompt treatment is almost always required to
alleviate pain and to ensure the teeth have the best possible
chance of survival.
Teeth become fractured by trauma, grinding or biting on hard
objects. Fillings and crowns can be damaged or fall out
completely. If there is severe pain, make an appointment as
quickly as possible.
Tooth knocked out: hold it by the crown, never the root, and keep it moist
Lost crown: keep it safe, we may be able to reattach it
Cracked tooth: rinse with lukewarm water and call us right away

Crowns, bridges & dentures
Dental crowns, bridges and dentures restore your teeth
to their normal shape, size and function. A crown is a
cover, or cap, that makes a tooth stronger or improves the way
it looks. A bridge fills the space where teeth are missing and
holds your other teeth in place.
You may need a crown if a cavity is too large for a filling,
if a tooth is cracked or worn down, after root canal
treatment, or to cover an implant. Crowns are made from metal
alloys, ceramics, porcelain or composite resin, colored to
blend in with your natural teeth.
Handcrafted bridges, fitted and adjusted with you
A temporary bridge protects your teeth while the permanent one is made

Dental implants
Dental implants allow you to live the way you want to:
confidently eating, smiling, laughing, talking and
enjoying all of your everyday activities without
worrying about your teeth. They look, feel and function like
real teeth.
An implant uses an anchor placed in the jawbone to hold a
beautiful restoration in the place of the missing tooth. Most
patients are good candidates, although some may need a bone
graft first. Our own periodontists and implant dentists,
including Dr. Roberts with his IV sedation practice, handle
implant care in house.
Our orthodontic services focus on straightening your
teeth and correcting your bite and malocclusion. We
provide both traditional methods as well as Invisalign, to
give you the smile you have been waiting for on your time and
budget.
Treatment usually starts around age 12 or 13, once the adult
teeth have come through. Braces are adjusted about once a
month. Children tend to prefer the colored braces, while
adults usually go for the clear styles.
Crowding, spacing, overbite, underbite and crossbite
Assessment includes a full history, examination, X-rays and models

Root canals
Let our root canal dentists provide the care you need to
alleviate tooth pain and save your smile. A root canal
treats the diseased tissue (pulp) while preserving the
rest of the tooth.
Historically, a tooth with a diseased nerve would be removed.
Today we can save the natural tooth in most cases. If the
infection is caught early enough, the procedure is generally
painless and can be completed in one visit. Dr. Wong, our root
canal provider, and Dr. Nguyen, who has advanced training in
root canal therapy, complete the treatment and the restoration
in one location.

Cosmetic dentistry
Having a healthy, bright, beautiful smile enhances your
appearance and allows you to smile with confidence. Thanks to
advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, we can improve teeth
and smiles with quick, painless, and surprisingly
affordable treatments.
Cosmetic treatment can change the size, shape and alignment of
teeth, fill in unattractive spaces, correct bites, lighten or
brighten color, repair decayed, broken, cracked or chipped
teeth, replace missing teeth, and replace old, unattractive
dental work.
There are a number of reasons why a tooth may need to be
pulled: overcrowding, infection, or risk of infection. You can
trust your Irving dental team to make extractions
comfortable and pain free. Tooth extractions
are quick, outpatient procedures which remove the burden of
pain and worry.
Story Dental provides this service to both young and old,
including wisdom teeth removal with IV (moderate) sedation
from Dr. Roberts and Dr. Wong.

Gum care & periodontics
Healthy gums are the foundation everything else stands on. Signs
of periodontal disease include bleeding or puffy gums, loose
teeth, new spacing between teeth, persistent bad breath, and
receding gums. Gums should never bleed, even when you brush
vigorously or floss.
Scaling and root planing
Also called deep cleaning: the process of removing plaque, its products, and calculus that cause inflammation, helping to establish a periodontium that is healthy and stable, before surgery is ever considered.
Gum graft and gum lift
Grafting adds attached tissue where gums have receded, a barrier against the bacteria that cause tooth loss. A cosmetic gum lift removes excess tissue so short or uneven teeth show their natural proportions again.
After your visit
Post-op care, written down.
Every procedure comes with written home care guidance from our doctors. These are the guides our patients take home. Questions after a procedure? Call the office at 972.514.1449 and we will walk you through it.
01
Dental implant care
Chew carefully for the first few weeks, clean the implant and prosthesis daily, and keep your examination and cleaning appointments at least once every 6 months.
02
Root canal post-op care
Root canal treatment is 90 to 95 percent successful. A dull ache or sensitivity when biting can last up to a week. A crown usually follows, to keep the tooth strong.
03
Temporary restorations
You will wear a temporary for about 2 to 3 weeks. Chew on the other side, avoid sticky or crunchy foods and gum, and brush gently without flossing around it.
04
Post extraction care
Do not rinse today. From tomorrow, rinse gently with warm salt water. No smoking, alcohol or carbonated drinks for 24 hours, and a soft diet for the first day.
05
New filling, crown, bridge or veneers
Numbness lasts about 2 to 4 hours, so take care with hot drinks. If your bite feels high, or pain is severe, call us for a simple adjustment.
06
Post scaling and root planing
Rinse with warm salt water while gums settle, eat soft foods for 3 to 4 days, and come back every 3 months so we can evaluate your progress together.
